Saved?

By Jim Miller
Gray, Maine

Yes sir there are even qualifications for being a member of the Lords church. This usually comes under the heading of what must I do to be saved.

What Must One Do?
The New Testament answers this inquiry so plainly that one can easily list the acts leading to Jesus in order (John 1:12). These are not just cold, formal demands but rather provisions, privileges, and opportunities afforded by the grace of God for man’s salvation. Let us examine these acts or steps one by one.

Life’s trials

By Jim Miller
Gray, Maine

There are many things in life we can not control. You can't stand out in your yard in the rain and shout for it to stop and expect it to happen. You can't control what others say whether it is good or bad. You can't change the seasons just because you don't like winter. You can't stop friends and family from passing away when it is their time. And you can't make others love you or care for you no matter how hard you try.

Heaven or Hell

By Jim Miller
Gray, Maine

It is sad to say that many who believe they are going to have a home in heave after judgment will actually be spending eternity in hell.

Jesus our Lord even said so Himself…… Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Mat 7:20-23)

Jesus also gave the reason why many are going to miss salvation and heaven This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Mat 15:8-9)

A little advice.

By Jim Miller
Gray, Maine

Let me give you a little advice, you can take it or leave it that is up to you. If you are going to stand on the word of God and live by it as best you can then you had better be prepared to be attacked. You had better be wearing the full armor of God because you are stepping into a battle, a full blown fight for the truth of Gods word and the souls of others.

You better be ready to be called every name in the book and then some. If you are afraid someone is going to talk about you and hurt your feelings do not get in the fight. If you are not willing to give up the safety and security you enjoy now do not get in the battle. You must be willing to suffer the slings and arrows that will be hurled at you.

True Love

by Jim Miller
Gray, Maine

True love is more than just an emotion, it involves caring about those around you enough to be tough when necessary. What most today define as love is really just an act if you ask me and I will tell you why. Love has been redefined so that it no longer includes correction, rebuke or reproof of any kind. Most people today think that love is overlooking the sins of others and just trying to see the good in all people. They tell you that love will not allow chastisement. Preachers and teachers are often accused of lacking love because they rebuke and reprove. If anybody lacks love they are nothing, but by the redefinition of love today you are told that rebuke and reproof do not manifest true love and so the watering down of the word begins.

Preaching and teaching the hard things the whole counsel of God  is done out of the  love for souls and the truth of God. Today the liberal will not tell you that one way God shows his love is by chastening (Heb. 12:6), and parents do the same (Prov. 13:24). True love necessitates chastisement. True love will not compromise truth or overlook wrong. The liberal flatterer and the compromiser are the ones who lack true love. They are only interested in themselves.
