Stand against error

By Jim Miller
Gray, Maine

Phony love and redefining the teachings of the Bible will lead you straight to hell. The liberals are outstanding at redefining things. They redefined love they redefined baptism they have even redefined heaven and hell. They do all this to deceive you into believing their lies and in doing so they pave the road to hell with your soul. The sad thing is you allow it.

I am not just speaking to those outside of the church I am speaking to everyone. This new definition of love will not point out you are a sin or rebuke you for it. It will not seek to bring you to the truth but rather those that wield this new love want to comfort you and make you feel good about yourself and when those that show true Godly love and care for you and really seek to save your soul come along they are accused of being mean and outdated old hypocrites. Those who show true love are often hit with the good old stand by comment "who are you to judge".

Stand firm

By Jim Miller
Gray, Maine

Donald Townsley once wrote…… There is the trend toward neutrality in preaching today. The preacher knows the truth, but he also knows if he takes a stand and preaches it "right down the line" he will lose his popularity, his friends, his meetings, and he may have to move: so, many preachers fail to deal with issues and popular sins of the day. They stay away from such subjects as marriage, divorce and remarriage (only for the cause of fornication -Matt. 19:9); social drinking; dancing; gambling; lascivious dress; worldliness; the "social gospel"; materialism; church discipline; attendance, giving, etc. They fail to deal with issues such as the "Kenotic theory" (which teaches that Christ emptied himself of his divine attributes when he became flesh, and denies his deity – the very foundation of our faith, Matt. 16:16-18); the doctrine of "individualism" (which denies that there is a local church); the "grace-fellowship" theory and the "continuous cleansing" theory (which minimizes sin and doctrinal error and advocates fellowship with those in error), and the "positive thinking" philosophy in preaching.

What to do with a heretic and his heresy…………

Try them – 1 John 4: 1: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Mark them – Romans 16:17: "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. And to keep away from them."

Rebuke them – Titus 1:13: "This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith. Correct them sternly."

Have no fellowship – Ephesians 5:11: "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Expose them.

Dumbing down the church

By Jim Miller
Gray, Maine

We have all heard the phrase Dumbing Down America, I have come to believe that this has also gone on in the Lords church for many, many years now. The dumbing down of the church has had a frightening effect. Christians used to be able to rattle off Book, chapter and verse for the things they believe without batting an eye. Today however we are lucky if they can even get the verse correct when quoting it.

Over the years congregations have come to rely on the preacher knowing his Bible and teaching it properly and thus many never even cracked open their Bible to see if what is being taught is even correct. A failure to even study on their own has made it possible for the wolves dressed as sheep to creep in and teach error unchecked.

The Way Of An Apostasy

Tom O. Bunting

(The thoughts of this article come from "D 'Aubigne's History of the Reformation." The sentences I have underlined, I hope, will draw your attention to happenings in the church today.)

The world was tottering on its foundations when Christianity appeared "in the fulness of time." Then was the Word made flesh. God appeared among men, and as a man, that he might save that which was lost. In Jesus of Nazareth dwelt all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

The Son of Man lived thirty-three years on the earth, healing the sick, instructing sinners, not having where to lay his head; and amid this humiliation giving tokens of grandeur, holiness, might, godlike nature, that the world had never known until then. He suffered, died, and rose again; he ascended into heaven. His disciples, beginning at Jerusalem, traversed the world, everywhere announcing their Master as "the author of eternal salvation." From the midst of a people who rejected all other people, there went forth mercy that addressed its invitations to all, and opened its arms to all (Gal. 3:26-28). Greeks and Romans, men who up to that time had blindly followed their priests to the feet of dumb idols, believed the word — a new people, an holy nation!
