Does Man have an Immortal Soul?

God, after five days of the creation process, reviewed His work and "saw that it was good" (Gen. 1:25). The following day after He had completed His creative labor by creating man, God "saw that it was very good" (Gen. 1:31). What was the difference? We are sure that both man and the animals were created from the dust of the ground (Gen. 2:7; 1:24, etc.) and that both shall return to the dust (Eccl. 12:7; 3:19-20). There is no doubt that God breathed life into man and he became a living soul (Gen. 2:'7) and that, in this respect, a certain kinship with the animals was brought into being. Hence, agreement can be readily admitted among those who accept deity that God created both man and animals and that the animation or life force is referred to as the soul (nephesh in the Hebrew and psuche in the Greek). Disagreement comes when there is an affirmation that man is nothing more than an animal, or at best, just a more advanced member of the animal kingdom.

Have Ye Not Read?

Question: Please explain Daniel 9.24-27. What are the "seventy weeks"?

Reply: This passage is one of the most difficult to interpret in the Old Testament. There are many interpretations of these verses that are given by commentators. First, let us read the passage.

"Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy Holy City, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: it shall be built again with street and moat, even in troublesome times. And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined. And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolate" (Dan. 9:24-27).

End Times Part 4 The Journey Home.

As Children of God we should be longing for the time when we will no longer have to suffer the slings and arrows of this life here. This will be the last post on this topic and I want you to consider the following points and examine for yourself as to whether you are on the right track and that your journey is on the right path.

"Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation" (1 Pet. 2:11- 12).

End Days Part 3

At the end of time we are all going to face the final judgment and so lets take a look at what the bible teaches us on the topis.

The Judgment

As we ascend to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thess. 4:17), we shall put on new, incorruptible bodies (1 Cor. 15:35-54).

These bodies will be eternal in nature to make us suitable for our everlasting rewards. This body is one that pleases God (v. 38).

With only this information revealed, we must trust God, and prepare ourselves for the Judgment.

End of days Part 2

We left off on our last article stating that the christian should not be afraid of the end of days. So lets see what we can expect when that day finally comes.

The Clouds Will Open

As the apostles watched Christ ascend into Heaven, the angel promised He would come back the same way He went (Acts 1:9-11). As He left in the cloud so shall He return in the cloud. Paul affirms this in 1 Thessalonians 4:16, when he says the Lord will "descend from Heaven."

The Shout and the Trumpet

The shout of the archangel, and the trump of God will signal Christ's return (1 Thess. 4:16). This sound will stretch across the globe. At this great noise, the world will know that the end of the world is here!
